Taunt Media launches Vancouver Community Experience Group

We at Taunt Media are proud to announce our support and sponsorship of the brand new Vancouver Community Experience Group, also known as VanCX. The group is currently hosted at Meetup, and you can sign up at VanCX.com if you have an interest in community development and operations. The group is geographically centered around the Greater Vancouver area, but everyone is welcome to participate in our discussions.

Inspired by the success of other Vancouver-based user groups focused on technical development and web-based experiences such as VanJS, netBC, and the Vancouver User Experience Group, the Vancouver Community Experience Group represents Vancouver-based online community developers, managers, and designers. Do you own, operate or participate in the management of an online community or social network? Join VanCX and share your experiences with the rest of us!

The group’s first meetup is currently been planned, but is no date or venue has scheduled as of yet. If you have a venue or location that might be suitable for our first meetup, please contact Nick Bouton at Taunt Media and we’ll do our best to get something organized with your help.

Protagonize recognized as “Top 5″ digital property in Canada

Taunt Media is pleased to announce that our flagship site, Protagonize, was selected as one of the Top 5 Hottest Digital Properties in Canada this past weekend at nextMEDIA Banff.

nextMEDIA’s inaugural “Digital Hot List” competition recognizes emerging Canadian digital media properties and the talented individuals behind them, and helps build a bridge between those properties and potential advertising partners.

Nokia Open Lab 2008 in Helsinki

Just a quick event-related update this week: Nick Bouton, founder and principal of Taunt Media, will be one of 35 invitees from around the world attending Nokia Open Lab 2008. The event and its related workshops are held at design hotel Klaus K‘s Rake Hall, located in the heart of Helsinki, Finland. It’s being sponsored by both Nokia Europe and WOMWorld, a Nokia-focused mobile technology blog.

The event is centred around the future of mobile technology and the influence of the social web and community building in the development of upcoming mobile devices. Nick was very pleased to be contacted by WOMWorld with respect to attending the workshop back in August, due to his experience with community building and social media-based applications. He’s is looking forward to attending and meeting other mobile technology and social media afficionados from around the globe.
